Legal Literacy
Legal Module
This module gives a clear, usable map of law and remedy for caste justice in today’s context of shrinking civic space, disinformation, SLAPPs, platform harms, climate mobility, and economic precarity—while pointing to real opportunity windows in constitutions, anti-discrimination law, NHRIs, administrative systems, data-transparency rules, and UN mechanisms.
It grounds participants in global doctrine (CERD on caste as descent-based discrimination; ILO protections) and teaches how to use the UN system in practice (Treaty Bodies, Special Procedures, UPR, HRC complaint procedure), alongside non-UN routes (UNGPs, OECD NCPs, ILO supervisory pathways, and grievance routes linked to development banks/climate funds). It sets evidence standards that travel (consent-first documentation, contemporaneous notes, chain-of-custody basics, minimal-data collection, disclosure logs) and builds leadership craft: framing harms in rights language, choosing the right forum, protecting people and data, and keeping one disciplined narrative across legal filings, media, and community briefings—adapted for the South Asian regional context with survivor-centred process and digital safety.
